The Farm

Sabor Mexicano Farms stretches from Guerneville’s country river road over one hundred acres to the top of the ridge and across. The property contains 10 acres of organic farming, a beautifully remodeled cabin and a five bedroom Victorian home; the future of Sabor Mexicano’s Bed and Breakfast and Events Destination. The magic of Northern California is not lost in this preserved landscape. The light through the trees, the rotating crops, horses, and the view of the mountaintops, all lend themselves to the natural beauty of this working farmscape. With trails leaving all throughout the property this is a special place full of serenity and adventure.

Lush and expansive, the farm itself grows produce for all three Sabor Mexicano restaurants, Cancun in Berkeley, and Tlalac and Chilayo in San Francisco and organic salsa company that goes by Sabor Mexicano as well. Rows of all different varieties of tomatoes and peppers, colorful and beautiful, are organically grown to perfection, as well as cucumbers, squashes, watermelon, cilantro, purselane, broccoli, spinach, corn, apples, and cabbage. When the season closes for the year, the winter months are for planting the following years crop; as well as harvesting the onions and garlic that are ripe and ready and will last into the better part of the year.

Sabor Mexicano stays true to their philosophy of good health in its every practice. Everything produced at the farm is done so organically. Alfalfa is grown on the farm to feed the goats, horses, and chickens of which all farm fresh eggs are gathered for the restaurants weekly. Nothing goes to waste—the farm is meant to both supply for the restaurants as well as contribute to the greater good of the environment both locally and at large. The farm stays completely hydrated solely by natural spring water gathered on its property.

Jorge Saldana, the proprietor of all things Sabor Mexicano, leads with his heart in all his plans for the farm. In Spring 2011, both the three bedroom cabin (which is presently available to rent) and five bedroom Victorian home will be the site of both a bed and breakfast, vacation rental, as well as an event destination. With botanical gardens flanking the beautifully remodeled Victorian five bedroom house, just in front there is also a manicured plot of land perfect for a wedding ceremony, garden party, lawn-‐bowling, or to lounge about on the lawn furniture with a good book and some delicious homemade fare from the farm.
